UFO's Definitively Explained 04/26/10 I can explain EXACTLY what UFO's are. They are in fact, and quite simply "unidentified flying objects"... it's actually in the name. But from a less smart-assed point of view, I actually think I have a pretty good theory about what those mysterious lights in the sky might actually be. People have long reported seeing lights in the sky flying in patters and manoevers that seem to be intelligently controlled. Moreover they seem to have extraordinary capabilities that modern human engineering cannot match in it's aeronautic endeavours. People can no longer debate the very existence of these lights, they are there. They have been reported in every corner of the globe and they have been referenced in documents, art and science for hundreds if not thousands of years. Yet while debate about the validity of reports of UFO's no longer warrants much merit, debate about what those lights must be rages on. Most of the time the apparent concensus is that since they do not conform to current technological standards these craft must belong to travellers that have come here from distant planets in starsystems far, far away. Aliens, extra-terrestrials, non-human sentient intelligence. Others would argue that the speeds and maneouverability present according to reports of UFO's don't necessarily fall outside the capabilities of modern human engineering, only outside the capabilities which our governments deem suitable for public knowledge. I would actually like to put forth an additional possibility for who might be visiting us and what they might be travelling in. I came to my conclusion about UFO's after examining a few scales, by which I mean I took a look at some numbers, did some extremely simple math and determined the likelyhoods of the various scenarios. My conclusion lead me to beleive that in a comparison between the distances one must travel to complete a journey through space versus time, that UFO pilots are much more likely to be future earthlings than space- aliens. One can consider how long our civilization might take to develop timetravel technology and and the energies necessary to complete a journey back in time and juxtapose that with the immense distances involved with interstellar travel. If you look at it that way, you realize that space is a much larger obstacle than time, it is mighty and expansive, so much so that the universe's age is actually insufficient for us to even be able to see the whole thing. Light from more than 14 billion light years away simply hasn't had enough time to get to us yet, and the universe is way, WAY bigger than 14 billion light years across. Time then, can be seen as a smaller obstacle than space, ultimately requiring less energy to travel through on large enough scales. It makes sense, we measure space in lightyears, the distance a light beam can travel in an entire year (it's a lot), we measure time in seconds, minutes and hours. We sometimes even have to talk about nanoseconds in our everyday lives when discussing computers and the internet and the like. My point is that when you consider the scales and distances required for both space and time travel, time seems like a shorter trip, so it seems to me much more likely that UFO's are not piloted by interstellar space-travellers, but rather future earthlings. Maybe they would be an evolved version of human kind or perhaps super-intelligent octopi, long since taken to land and the sky in their shiney time machines, touring back in time to complete their historical records of the planets history. As wild as that may sound, to me, for some reason, it sounds a lot more likely than the prospect of interstellar tourists happening upon our planet in the endless expanse of the cosmos and being so interested in our technologically hum-drum existence that they would devote decades of tourism or scientific study or whatever people think they are up to.
